Suomi murtumispisteessä

1

Suomessa on tapahtunut asteittainen asennemuutos kohti yhä oikeistolaisempia arvoja.

Tukirahoilla ympäri maailmaa sikaillut Nokia on tästä malliesimerkki.

  1. This is sad, I knew people who worked at nokia. At the same time, it is the logic of global capitalism to have as little workers a possible, and as cheap as possible. So they move to countries where labour is cheap.

The workers there, over time, will be fed up with being exploited and demand higher wages, shorter hours, health benefits and so on, and as they slowly get their demands through, capital will again move to a country where labour is cheaper.

This obviously leaves the country that capital leaves in poverty. In the long run wages will start to decrease and social services dissapear – look at greece today, where workers, in the worst cases, have even been demanded to PAY BACK wages they have already recived.

If Finland chrashes hard enough, after you have lost everything international capitalist might just use you as cheap labour in their factories one day, making products that are sold in the markets at some of the new rising economies – many would speculate China being one of these.

The only way to avoid this, obviously, is to get rid of capitalism altogether. Capitalism’s roots are in private ownership of land, and further down the line, of the means of production. This means the ones who work on the land or in the factories have to pay the owner, or more commonly nowdays, work for the owners as wage labourers.

This owning class, basicaly, are the capitalists, who in their role as owners (today this includes investors and banks) live of the work of others. These people ultimately have control of our lives, and are willing to do what it takes to keep it that way.

That Finland has arrived where it is today is just a logical outcome of the bourgeoise/capitalist white side winning the civil war in 1918. By crushing the workers – the red side – and “getting rid of” the loudest proponents of working class freedom into the bargain, the whites as winners were free to run the country down. Private property was to be maintained, wage labour was to continue, the ownning class was to run the country.

They also found that some of the lies deplyed during the war were very useful to control the workers – especialy the one that the whites fought for finnish independence and that the reds were all communists, or that they wanted finland to belong to Russia, this is effectively propagated to this day, so much so that many people who are ignorant of their own history still believe it.

In truth, this was a lie that the whites told the peasants of the countryside to get them to side with the bourgeoise and fight against the Finnish workers, their very own brothers and sisters.

Anyway, the main point was that tension between the poor and the rich grew so big that it led to a civil war, and as the rich won, Finland was forced under the whip of capital and it’s religion of growth. Capitalists have later been greatly aided by the Social Democratic party, who far from seeking to overthrow capitalism enforces it by what we know as the well-fare state.

The well-fare state mechanism is one that ensures class co-operation by seeing that nobody gets into a possition where they have nothing to lose, and thus become a danger to the ruling class.

Having poor people get benefits is better than letting them lose everything, ofcourse, as people that have nothing to lose are more likely to fight back. This is why in times of austerity class conflict is likely to explode. Look again, for instance, at Greece today – or think of the Finnish workers a hundred years ago!

It must be understood also that one of the ways that capitalism is protected is by promoting trans-class interest, such as racism, sexism, nationalism, feminism and so on, that imply that rulers and ruled have common enemies, or as the rulers rather like to think of it, that the workers can be made to fight against each other rather than consentrating on class strugle.

Yet another way to keep us in line is unemployment, very much a product of capitalism. The capitalist can threaten workers with fired if they don’t obey, this ofcourse requires a pool of unemployed – that is, the threat that there is someone else just waiting to take your job. Having no unemployment would therefore be a disaster for the ruling class, and unemployment is in fact necesary for capitalism to work.

This also fits well with the capitalist aim to have as little workers as possible, and pay them as little as possible while getting them to do as much work as possible – the more efficient you are, the more people they can fire – that’s pure profit!

Another way ofcourse would be to co-operate, sharing the work so that the more people that take part in getting it done, the less hours we would have to spend toiling. This would also mean that the ones who like procalaim that people should “get a job!” if they want to get paid actually would have a point. Under capitalism, on the other hand, saying that the people that don’t work simply should “get a job” is maybe the most stupid thing you could say, as it never has and never could happen that under this system there wouldn’t be unemployment.

Only by understanding the underlying mechanism of capital in our society can we go forth to abolish capitalism, realizing that the poor and workers in all lands have only one common enemy, capitalism, and that only by reclaiming the land and the means of production that our forefathers built – that is by abolishing private property – can we process to a life of freedom.

And unless in doing this the power of the ruling class is crushed to the very last piece, and society organized in such a way that none can gain the means or possibilites to become a new ruling class, and unless private ownership in land and means of production is abolished and production put under control of the people themselves, you would rank among the huge failures of Nazi Germany and “communist” Russia, neither of which abolished capitalism, but in fact strenghtened capital more than ever with strong state support.

In conclusion, to get rid of capitalism it is of most importance to realize what it is and how it works, and thus abolish in full private property (it is important to stress ofcourse, for those that do not know much about politics, that this is not the same thing as personal property: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_property) and wage labour, rejecting the competition and divisions that capitalism creates to mainatin itself and replace it with mutual aid and co-operation.
